All is certainly not well with the Nigeria Football Federation following the paucity of fund.
This has crippled the activities of the Glass House.
Sources said this was caused by the inability of the federation to access the usual Federal Government monthly allocation due the crisis rocking it.
A source said: “As I speak to you now, there is no dime in the federation.
“The situation is very critical that many of the senior federation staff have incurred huge debts to be part of the federation’s activities without any hope of repayment.
“It has not been easy for the staff of the federation.
“The administrative crisis has really taken a toll on them that many are wishing that it ends.”
In a related development, NFF Secretary General, Barrister Musa Amadu, has said that the federation is still expecting the release of fund from the Government of Akwa Ibom State to furnish and move into the new secretariat of the federation, theSunday Dankaro Football House.
Relying on the promise made by Governor Godswill Akpabio during anmeeting with the management and executive board of the federation in Uyo recently, the federation’s chief scribe said that there is yet no proposed date for movement into the new secretariat.
Amadu’s words: “I cannot confirm the report until the funds are made available to us, but I do understand that the governor is committed to furnishing the Sunday Dankaro Football House to enable to federation move in as early as possible.
“I think we must commend the Akwa Ibom State government for partnering with the NFF to give us befitting furniture for the football house.
“I don’t want to speculate how long we will remain at the Zone 7 secretariat, but I can assure you that if the funds are made available, work will begin at the new secretariat because we are committed to moving into the new offices.
“You have to understand that this house was commissioned in June 2013 and it has not been occupied till date.
“It has obviously witnessed a lot of deterioration, but I think that those little issues would be sorted out immediately the funds are made available.”
Amdu equally spoke on the readiness of the Ibom International Stadium to host Super Eagles international matches, stressing: “I think it is a welcome development that Nigeria is having an ultramodern stadium that can stand to such spectator strength in Africa.
“It is worthy of commendation for the government and people of Akwa Ibom State for committing so much funds into magnificent edifice.
“We are happy also that the honour given to the NFF to organise an international friendly against Ghana who are already in transit at the Abuja International Airport to connect to Uyo.
“It is a sign of good things to come to Nigerian football and we believe that the stadium and Akwa Ibom fans will see more international matches in the future.”
