State governors who are serving first terms will not enjoy automatic ticket to fly the Peoples Democratic Party’s flag in 2015, the national leadership of the ruling party has said.
President Goodluck Jonathan was last week Thursday handed automatic ticket by the National Executive Committee as the sole candidate of the party in the 2015 presidential election.
Addressing newsmen at the weekend in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, also said the state chapters of the party lack power to offer a sitting governor automatic ticket.
According to Metuh, only the NEC could take such decision.
He noted that since it was not done at its last meeting, all governorship aspirants will face primaries.
He also announced that the party has fixed the nomination forms for presidential ticket at N20 million.
According to Metuh, governorship aspirants will pay N10 million for nomination forms, Senators N4 million and House of Representatives N2 million.
Each aspirant will also pay N500,000 for expression of interest forms.
Metuh also said state legislators will pay N1 million for nomination forms, while their expression of interest forms cost N200,000.
