The Peoples Democratic Party has granted waiver to a governorship aspirant, Jimmy Chetto, to contest for elective office.
The waiver came via a letter dated November 3, 2014 and signed by the National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Pankshin, Plateau State.
The letter said that the party had at its 388th meeting on October 29, 2014 considered Chetto’s application and that having satisfied the relevant provisions of the party’s constitution for granting of waiver, his request was approved.
It said that Chetto was free to contest for any elective office on the PDP platform “without prejudice to any other requirements contained in the party’s guidelines and constitution”.
Chetto, a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the PDP in Plateau State, had contested for the same position in 2007 and 2011.
Chetto thanked the party for the waiver and promised to work hard to ensure its victory in the 2015 general elections.
The aspirant was among the 61 PDP returnees that were received by Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State in Pankshin on Monday.
