The Nigeria Tennis Federation is making frantic efforts to ensure the 2015 Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship is staged before the second week of December.
The Secretary General of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Gloria Ekwempu, disclosed that a letter has been dispatched to International Tennis Federation for the body to give its consent to a date not later than the first or second week of December.
The scribe noted the Federation and indeed the Local Organising Committee have ensured other conditions pertaining to venues and logistics have been taken care of.
“Yes, the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship will hold this year. We have written to the ITF and any moment we will receive the confirmation of the dates,” she said.
Tournament Director, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, said preparation for a successful competition is ongoing, adding the LOC is awaiting the approval of the dates, after which a press conference to unveil the 15th edition of the Governor’s Cup will be held.
Oladunjoye said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has keen interest for a glamorous Governor’s Cup this year, the first to be staged since he assumed office in May this year.
