Ahead of the 2015 elections, President Goodluck Jonathan has re-echoed his commitment to the survival of democracy, rule of law and transparency in Nigeria.
In the same vein, the President promised to appreciate Nigerians through offering good governance, efficient implementation of the transformative agenda and all inclusive government.
Making this assertion at the inauguration of the Cross River and Bayelsa States chapters of the Grassroot Volunteers Movement for Goodluck Jonathan 2015, Dr. Saro laka, a representative of the President, further disclosed the commitment of the government to tackling unemployment in the country and stated that Jonathan has the capacity to deliver and take the country to the next level.
Jonathan, however, urged Nigerians to embrace peace, consultation and shun violence in the bid to move the country forward.
He enjoined members of GVM to do everything to ensure the President and all the Peoples Democratic Party officials are elected in the coming polls, while assuring the group that all their efforts towards Jonathan’s re-election will be appreciated.
In her address at the occasion, the Cross River State Coordinator of the group, Hon. Ekatte Obasse, said the group will further the scope of grassroot mobilization activities and woo the masses to redouble their support towards the deserving re-election bid of the President.
According to Obasse: “We feel motivated to ask Nigerians to maintain the dial so that our country can be made better in all sectors of our economy.
“This is a task that requires the patriotic zeal and co-operation of all well-meaning Nigerians and residents of our country.
“We urge President Goodluck Jonathan to declare his interest to seek election while assuring him that he would defeat any opposing candidate of any other political party in Nigeria that can contest against him during the forthcoming presidential poll.”
