An aspirant for the Jos North/Bassa federal constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Yusuf Dauda, has urged members of the constituency to give adequate support to whoever emerges as the governor of Plateau State in 2015 irrespective of party or religious affiliation.
Speaking with newsmen in Jos on Monday, the aspirant said lack of cooperation and support to ruling government are detrimental and will not make the people benefit from government programmes, which would positively develop them.
Dauda said such support will be for the good of the people.
He attributed lack of development in the constituency to lack of support to the Governor Jonah Jang-led administration by some members of the constituency.
According to him: “You only see people who want change in the APC.
“I want positive change for my people so that we can enjoy the dividend of democracy.
“The PDP government in the state has not done enough for my people.
“If you go to other places, you will see development, even in places where there are no houses.
“You see good roads and water, but if you go to some communities in Jos North, there is no development.
“The governor complained that the people did not vote for him.
“As a leader, he should carry everyone along whether they voted for him or not.
“I am aspiring for this seat so that I can mobilize my people to come together and work with the government of the day so that development can come to our end.”
Dauda also called on the people to continue to work at overcoming the challenges of insecurity in the constituency, adding: “We have learnt our lessons.
“We are tired of fighting and no one will accept to continue fighting because everyone has suffered.
“The people of Jos North/Bassa have realised that no one gains in violence.
“We want lasting peace on the Plateau.
“That is why I want to unite the people to work with the government so that we can have development.
“We are ready to vote in a government which we will support so that we can also benefit.”
