Chief Victor Umeh, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, was among the candidates for the 2015 polls in Anambra State, who was presented with the party’s flag on Saturday in Awka.
The flags were presented to the candidates, who would contest on the platform of APGA for the Anambra State House of Assembly and National Assembly at a rally in Awka.
Umeh is contesting for the Anambra Central Senatorial District seat, currently occupied by Senator Chris Ngige.
In his remarks, Umeh recalled the achievements of the APGA led-government in the state, dating back to Chief Peter Obi’s administration and urged the people to continue to support the party.
He said that APGA’s resolve to support President Goodluck Jonathan at the federal level was for continuity of the transformation agenda.
Governor Willie Obiano, who also spoke, congratulated the successful candidates, stressing that they were the best candidates of the party for the 2015 general elections.
The governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to fight crime and urged indigenes of the state to return home for the yuletide as “criminal elements have been sacked from Anambra”.
Other candidates who were given flags were Earnest Ndukwe (Anambra South Senatorial District) and Dubem Obaze (Anambra North Senatorial District).
Chief Godson Ezenagu, Dozie Nwankwo and Tabansi Okoye also received the party’s flags for Awka North/South, Anaocha; Dunukofia/Njikoka; and Onitsha North/ South federal constituencies respectively.
