Mass arrest was effected in Jos, the Plateau State capital, by the Police on independence day for alleged attempt to breach the peace of the state.
An impeccable source told The Eagle Online on Thursday morning that the youths, about 25, were picked at different points of Agwan Rogo and Gagere for unlawful assembly.
The spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, Abu Emmanuel, claimed the command was yet to receive such report from any of its Divisional Police Officers.
Emmanuel rather expressed the command’s happiness with citizens of the state over their peaceful conduct during the independence day celebration.
Emmanuel in a telephone chat however stressed the need for the people of the state to tolerate and respect one another.
He said the command is appreciative of the people the state for conducting themselves peacefully during the independence day celebration and was counting on them to step up such spirit so that the state will enjoy supreme peace and hitch-free Sallah celebration.
He equally enjoined all citizens to report any act capable of leading to a break down of law and order to the appropriate authority for necessary action rather than taking the laws into their hands.
